Outlander Tour of Scotland 2027: Dates Confirmed with Maria Doyle Kennedy

Our 2027 Outlander tour of Scotland is confirmed, and there is a good reason for fans to act early this year. Maria Doyle Kennedy, who plays Aunt Jocasta in the series, is returning to join us again. It remains the only Outlander tour of Scotland that travels with an actual cast member, and places on both departures are limited.

The 2027 dates

There are two small-group departures to choose from in 2027:

  • 20 to 26 June 2027
  • 12 to 18 September 2027

Both are seven-day guided tours beginning and ending in Edinburgh, which makes them easy to join from international flights or to extend into a longer Scottish trip. You can book either departure here.

Maria Doyle Kennedy returns as Aunt Jocasta

The heart of what makes this tour different is the time you spend with Maria Doyle Kennedy. As well as her role as Jocasta Cameron in Outlander, she is an accomplished musician, so this is a genuine cultural experience rather than a brief meet-and-greet.

Over the tour you will enjoy a Q&A and storytelling session, an autograph and photo opportunity, and an intimate fireside concert where Maria performs live, joined by local Scottish folk musicians. For fans of the series, spending an evening like this, near the very locations where the show was filmed, is the kind of memory that ends up at the centre of the whole trip.

The filming locations you will visit

The tour takes you to the real places behind the series, set within their genuine history. Highlights across the seven days include:

  • Midhope Castle, the exterior of Lallybroch, the Fraser family home
  • Falkland Village, which doubles as 1940s Inverness
  • Linlithgow Palace, seen as Wentworth Prison
  • Culross and Glencorse Old Kirk, where Jamie and Claire married
  • Culloden Battlefield and the prehistoric Clava Cairns, the inspiration for Craigh na Dun
  • The dramatic scenery of Glencoe, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle

If you would like the full picture of the sites before you book, our guide to Outlander filming locations in Scotland covers them in more detail.

More than filming locations

Alongside the Outlander sites, the tour is built around Scotland’s music, history and traditions. Expect live folk music every night, a whisky tour at Glenfarclas Distillery, a waulking wool demonstration with ladies who appeared in Season One, afternoon tea at the Signet Library, and the kind of local storytelling that only comes from guides who grew up with it. It is an Outlander tour and a proper tour of Scotland at the same time.

What is included

  • Seven days, Edinburgh to the Highlands and back
  • Small groups, capped at 25 guests
  • Four and five star accommodation throughout
  • All entry fees, transport by luxury mini-coach, and breakfast
  • The Q&A, photo session and fireside concert with Maria Doyle Kennedy
  • Live music, guided by North American musicians and Scottish locals

Why book early

Both 2027 departures are small by design, and the cast-member experience means they tend to fill well ahead of the date. US travellers also plan and book Scotland trips in the autumn and winter for the following year, so the earlier months are when availability is best.

You can see the full itinerary and reserve your place on the Outlander tour of Scotland page, or book your 2027 departure directly. If you have questions before booking, get in touch and we will be glad to help.
